The Volkswagen New Beetle was the cute car that started the retro-futurist design craze, which is still going strong.

The front-wheel-drive Volkswagen New Beetle is available as a two-door hatchback or a two-door convertible. Options include bigger wheels and a rear spoiler. Power comes from a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that makes 170 horsepower. Transmission choices are a standard five-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic.

From 1998-2005, the base engine was a 115-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Until recently, turbocharged gasoline engines have been a big part of the New Beetle's trim lineup. Sold from 1999-2006, the New Beetle 1.8T was powered by a 1.8-liter turbo four-cylinder, which put out 150 hp. Throughout the years, Volkswagen has released several special-edition models, including limited-edition colors and trim packages. The new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle is sleek, swift, and totally sophisticated. Beetle is the unique girly styled compact cars manufactured in the Volkswagen kingdom which is a German based auto manufacturing company. The first generation of Volkswagen Beetle came into picture a decade ago. Considering the amazing sale performance of previous versions of VW Beetle, Volkswagen is soon coming with a spectacular redesign to be recognized as 2012 Volkswagen Beetle.

Citroen DS5

 

Prepare for impending teasing over the next few days as Citroën has released the first in a likely series of preview images of the third member in its distinctive line of DS models, the DS5, which will receive its world premiere on 18 April at the Shanghai International Motor Show.

Aside from the image pictured above, the French carmaker is keeping mum on all the details simply stating that the “DS5 is set to bring distinctive new elegance and panache to the executive class”.

It is believed that the new DS5 will be based on the architecture of Citroën’s C5 mid-size model with engine options including the PSA Citroën-Peugeot group’s Hybrid4 diesel-electric hybrid powertrain.

The DS lineup was inaugurated in 2009 with the launch of the DS3 supermini, while Citroën expanded the range with the introduction of the DS4, a high-stance five-door hatchback, at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.

 

2012 vw beetle

Volkswagen is currently preparing the next generation Beetle city car. It will be previewed by a concept version in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show with a production version to follow in 2011.

The 2012 Beetle will be built on a new chassis with wider tracks and a longer wheelbase and will feature MacPherson struts suspensions at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. Engine line-up will include a 105bhp 1.2, a 160bhp 1.4 and a 210bhp 2.0 liter. The US market will also get a 170bhp 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine. Diesel line-up will include the new 105bhp 1.6 and a 140bhp 2.0 liter.

In an interview with AutoCar, a Volkswagen insider said: "It is more contoured, with additional structuring and defined feature lines used to help to break up the simple surfacing and unadorned character of the current model. The screen angles are less extreme and the roof structure is less rounded than it is at the moment."

Marking the 20th anniversary of the Subaru Legacy, then CONCEPT OF LEGACY has been developed to show the sporting legacy of the capabilities and features of Subaru symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system mated with Boxer engine-against horizontal. The design concept is based on wheelbase 108.3 in. larger designed to maximize interior space and provide comfortable accommodation.

The theme of concept design is “Presence”, represented by the aggressive front facia and solid yet expressive body. Four powerful and defined wheel arches emphasize the dynamism of Symmetrical AWD. Sharp design lines carve out a substantial mass as they flow from the hood, across the roof to the trunk, while the sharp body lines project a sense of strength. Wedge-shaped Side Rear Vision Cameras are featured and provide a sense of flow from the momentum of the A-pillar lines. A character line runs from just before the A-pillar and sweeps up to the tail just above the taillamps.

This grille design combines the central wing motif that defines the Subaru Legacy's brand identity. Subaru logo separates the lattice shape in the center accented by sharp headlights with vertical layout of the dual-row dual LED lights. In addition,, a thin fog lights arranged vertically in front of nets with large air intakes angles add a touch of jewel-like front design. The CONCEPT OF LEGACY finished in a special high-sheen "Ultimate Silver" paint to accentuate the angle of the designs.

The interior design has a striking four-seat layout featuring "High Definition " theme design. Comfort and style are achieved with a mixture of touch screen, camera and cover the modern surface. The mixture of high-tech look with comfort through four separate seating areas, a high roofline and generous legroom for all passengers. Center console features touch-panel screen that concentrates a large variety of functions for use simplified, while the form of flow extends vertically to emphasize a sense of strength and solidity in union with the outside. A steering wheel and shift lever has been adjusted to highlight the sporty nature of DNA elements in the Legacy's.

In-car entertainment is featured through monitors with multiple functions that are located in the center console, as well as in the rear of the front seat headrests to provide comfortable functionality as well a calm design that creates a relaxed ambiance for passengers.
